Verse 1

यदि गौर ना हइत, तबे कि हइत,
केमने धरिताम देह ? ।
राधार महिमा, प्रेम-रस-सीमा,
जगते जानात केह ? ॥

yadi gaura nā ha-ita, tabe ki ha-ita,
kemane dharitāma deha?
rādhāra mahimā, prema-rasa-sīmā,
jagate jānāta keha?

If Lord Gaura had not appeared, what would have become of us? How could we have tolerated living in this world? Who could have ever revealed to this universe the unmatched glories of Sri Radha and the zenith of pure divine love?

Verse 2

मधुर वृन्दावन, विपिन-माधुरी,
प्रवेश चातुरी कार ? ।
वासुदेव कहे, गाओ गौर-गुण,
जुडाओ परान-धार ॥

madhura vṛndāvana, vipina-mādhurī,
praveśa cāturī kāra?
vāsudeva kahe, gāo gaura-guṇa,
juḍāo parāna-dhāra

Who would have possessed the skill to enter the intimate sweetness of the groves of sweet Vrindavan? Vasudeva Ghosa declares: "Sing the glories of Lord Gaura, and soothe your weeping heart."
