Verse 1

यशोमती-नन्दन व्रज-वर-नागर ।
गोकुल-रञ्जन कान ॥

yaśomatī-nandana braja-bara-nāgara
gokula-rañjana kāna

Lord Krishna is the beloved son of Mother Yashoda, the greatest hero of Vraja, the pleasure of Gokula, and the dear friend of all cowherd boys.

Verse 2

गोपी-पराण-धन मदन-मोहन ।
कालीय-दमन-विधान ॥

gopī-parāṇa-dhana madana-mohana
kālīya-damana-vidhāna

He is the wealth of the life of the gopis, the enchanter of Cupid, and the chastiser of the venomous serpent Kaliya in the Yamuna.
